Newport
to Honeyman State Park – 55 Miles (89 km) http://t.co/0LHHq4rV
Quick blog. No wifi at the campsite, so a few notes while I eat dinner. I left Newport at 9:00am and pretty much rode non stop to Florence. I did 88km this leg, and arrived at 2:30. I did stop a few times for pictures, but honestly, I could have stopped 1000 times, the vistas were unbelievable. I was in awe most the day. Pictures can't capture it anyways.
For the first time, I pre planned my music shuffle. I chose mainly 80's metal, a bit of nostalgia. I also noticed on my previous days, I always enjoyed when those back tracks came on most, so I figured, wtf, load it up.
The library today consisted of: Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Dokken, Extreme, Killer Dwarfs, Kingdom Come, Ozzy, Steel Panther and Van Halen. Notable thoughts were how fucking amazing Nuno Bettencourt and George Lynch are. It's nice to hear those songs again. Highlight tracks were Steel Panther's "Weenie Ride" cause I was laughing my ass off totally out loud. Musta looked weird if anyone was anywhere near me, which of course no one was. Steel Panther is probably one of the best 80's metal bands that never came out of the 80's. So funny. Also, Ozzy has some amazing songs I've never listened to before. Oh, and Bon Jovi somehow writes these amazing ballad type reflection songs, that feel really good on a trip like this. I have all 16 albums on my playlist, but I haven't heard most of em. Everything else on that list, I know by heart.
Ok, I have to stock up on some supplies for tomorrow, cause there's NOTHING at the campsite.
