The day kinda started off late, cause I couldn't find my phone. I thought I had left it at the bar, but it didn't reopen until 11:00 am, and I was worried. Ended up having a bath to kill some time, and saw it lying behind the bathroom door. How it got there, I have no idea, but I never would have seen it there had I NOT decided to take a bath. I would have ended up checking out, going to the bar again at 11, and learning it wasn't there. That would have sucked. So thankful.
So the day started a bit late, but rode through a few farms, (got some delicious strawberries!) and then through Malibu (not sure what the fuss us about, kinda boring) and straight through to Santa Monica. Clocked 108km, and arrived at about 4:30. I feel no pain anymore. I could ride like this everyday easily now. Conditioning (and healing) makes such a difference.
The scariest part of my ride was the last 2 hours, cause it's a narrow shoulder, and nothing but parked cars on the side of the road. The fear is not hitting them, but you never know when someone's gonna open their door, and they don't look. Half the cars have people sitting in them, and then, BOOM, the car door suddenly opens. And nobody looks first. I saw a dozen car doors suddenly open just ahead of me. I spent the whole time trying to look into their rear view mirrors to see what they are about to do. Terrifying.
Just checking out the town a bit, then I'm gonna head off to Huntingon Beach tomorrow.
