We are finally fully moved in to our new buildings. The office is finally all built, and we got our building final from the City of Surrey. It was a long journey, but we made it there eventually, and I got everything done the way I wanted it. A huge learning curve, and it might have taken about a month longer than I had hoped, but the cost savings, and satisfaction of overseeing the project from beginning to end was soooo worth it.
I finally have my dream office, complete with black ceiling tile with white T bar, red walls, Marshall amps, guitars, leather couch, shag carpet and ceiling fan.
The plant is running, but still needs some organization. We are slowly building shelves, cooler cleaning bay and repair bench and racks, etc, but we are getting there.
Our new plant is TWICE the size of our old plant, and I fully expected we would have ample of room, and space to grow. I soon realized how wrong I was. When I think back to the old building, I can hardly believe we were able to work out of that space! We still have no space! The building we have now is only just adequate. The problem I saw right away, is that it wont take long before we outgrow it. I noticed the unit beside ours was still for sale. (These are all new construction units, and they are almost sold out.) I knew I had to buy that one too, not because we need it now, but because I know we are going to need it soon. If someone else buys it, it will be gone, and the option will be out of my hands. I had to move on it, so I did. We now have 3 units, for a total of 6,000 square feet. Room to grow.
We had the busiest summer in our history. We hired a new driver (Tyler) about 2 months ago to help pick up the extra summer business, and he's been running full time ever since. He uses the "spare" backup van, which means we no longer have a back up van, so I am shopping for a another vehicle to use as a spare. It never ends! but I am thankful for all the new growth.
So, after our crazy summer, I finally did my triathlon on September 8th in Cultas Lake. I have never done a triathlon, and between the band (The Hip Show) and with our super busy summer, I had very little time to train. The race was 1.5k swim, 40k cycle, and 10k run. I didn't do super well, but I finished under 3 hours. Meh.
My next challenge is to be ready for my 2nd cycling trip. I plan to cycle from San Francisco to Tijuana in October. I have planned 2 weeks to do this, which should be more than enough time. The last cycling trip I did, was from Astoria to San Francisco, which you can read about here if you like, so this trip is kinda taking if from where I left off. I am super excited about it, but I have a lot of things to take care of before I leave, so that will be a challenge in itself. I can use a break.
